Biography:

Matthew J. Douthitt is a college educator and historian of twentieth century China. His research focuses on religious sects and secret societies in the early Republic of China. Prior to arriving at Penn State, Douthitt worked as an adjunct instructor of history at various colleges and universities. As a firm believer in the transformative power of education, he served with and supports higher education programs within the US prison system. Presently, he is in his second year of graduate study, working towards his doctorate.
