Annelise Walker

Annelise Walker is a 5th-year PhD candidate in Latin American history. Their dissertation, “Collecting the Subterranean: Mining and Minerals Between Alto Perú and Spain, 1749–1809,” reconstructs the social and material networks the Spanish Royal Cabinet of Natural History used to collect mineral specimens from Alto Perú (Bolivia), highlighting the intellectual contributions of Indigenous men and women laboring in the silver industry. Their research interests include the history of science, Indigenous knowledge, material culture, and the subterranean.
