Biography:
I am currently a PhD student in Latin American History. My research focuses on gender, religion, and race in colonial Chile. More specifically, I am interested in nun’s convents as a site of negotiation, production, and reproduction of gender and race-based hierarchies. My M.A. Thesis explored conventual reform in the 19th century in Chile. In addition, I have research interests in the environmental history of Chile, state formation, the history of Afro-Chilean communities, and national identity.
