Travis Meyer is a PhD candidate in history at Pennsylvania State University, working under the advisorship of Matthew Restall and Martha Few. His research centers on the translation and analysis of Catholic texts in Nahuatl and highland Mayan languages. His dissertation examines how the religious traditions, lived experiences, and social identities of ecclesiastics and Mayas in colonial Guatemala contributed to the creation of the Maya Catholicisms presented in K’iche’ and Kaqchikel-language Catholic texts.
